To day is Jan. 1 1913 in the after noon we had a potluck dinner it was fun we had Fillpino dishes and American dishes and Hawaiian food it was real good food and we had a good time we watched a movie and just enjoyed the afternoon .   last night was a different experience we went up on the lower roof of the temple and watched the fire works. They really go all out for fire works they blow them up for weddings and birthday parties and other times but when the new year comes they start about 5:00 pm  then about 11:30 they really start to blow them up the whole sky is filled with fireworks there is so many that the smoke from them all most chokes you and your eyes burn. Some of them are very beautiful These people for the most part don't have much money so I don't know how they afford them . But the street going East from the Temple is lined with stands selling fireworks. We heard on the news that 65 young people had been injured with fireworks one young boy was killed when he was shot with a home made gun and a younng girl was hit in the eye with a stray bullet . On the Dec.31 we went with the Bush's and the Hawks to a mall  that we had never been to in Cubao it was called the gate way mall. We walked our legs off looking for a good camera we finally bought a Nikon 3100 for 23000 peso about $561.00 I don't think any thing over here is a bargain but Ann and I thought we would be here for another thirteen months so we wanted a good camera. We have been changed to the afternoon shift at the temple and at first we where not to happy about the change but I think that it will work good for us with tax time coming up. If we need to make calls to the States we can get up at 5:00 am and it will be 2:00 pm there which will make it nice for calling the bank and Whitehouse our tax guy . We are still having problems with the  Quicken account at Zions since the conversion that zions require us to do. We are planning a trip to the Pagsanjan Falls and shooting the rapids we will be ferried to these enchanting falls in native bancas (native canoes) paddled by expert bankeros the trip to the falls is a beautiful sight filled with rocky cliffs as high as 300 feet, lush with tropical vegetation, wild orchids, ferns and vines we may even see a monkey or two and possibly some beautiful native birds
