We went shopping on Monday Jan. 7 it was a fun experience we went to a mall called hyper mall it had more American made products so higher prices but it was different. Then we went to the S&R store it is like Cosco stores in the US. that was a different experience we was merrily shopping away and when I realized that we were buying a lot of groceries and I only had about 7000 peso's so I thought know problem I will go over to there atm. and get more cash so went over to the atm and there was a sign saying that it couldn't dispense cash at this time. So I pulled out my little calculator so we didn't over spend and then it wasn't as much fun. Then sister Jones wanted to go to mega mall and we got lost so that was a different experience but brother Ciriako doesn't ever get to excited he just watches the signs and always gets us where we need to go. When we got home Ann decided she wanted to go get her hair cut so we went across the street to see if they could cut her hair then or if she needed to make and appointment they was able to cut here hair so I decided to walk to the Robinson's mall I had never been there alone. and every body told me that I shouldn't walk that far alone it is about forty five minutes from the Temple. But my head was made up and I started off walking in the Philippines is not like walking in the states there is all kinds of things to look out for on the side walks (uneven concrete, poles that have been cut off, sewer lids with handles sticking up to mention a few ) and cyclists ride on the side walks and there is like a million people walking every where,But I made it after a few stops and direction changes, And got the things I needed. Then in the evening we had family home evening and one of the sealers who lives in the apt. where we live did the home evening lesson it was very good he played a conference talk given by Marven J Ashton it was wonderful to see and hear him again the talk was given in 1982.
As Bob has said that while I was over getting my hair cut he took off for the mall walking alone. That is a NO NO here. But there was no stopping him. We have had one of the couples here get attacked and her necklace stolen. That was going to the same mall. We should always be together and best to be with another couple. I hope that he will not do that again.
We have changed our shift at the temple for the next two months. We are going in the afternoon. We go from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Your body has to adjust to the different time change. Things are going better here. As we have grown to love the people that we serve with. The Philippino's do things very different than we are use to. So as they say here. Be Flexible. And that this temple runs much different than any of the temples that we have served in.
Sister Gali (one of our Matrons health is not good and she has returned to her home.) They said that she will not be coming back, so I guess we will be seeing a new matron soon. She was such a delight. She went around the temple always humming the church hymns or softly singing. We really love her. And she will be missed. We have two other couples that will be leaving in the next two months. I is hard to see them go.
The Hawkes will be going home the first of February and the Morby's will go home the 5th of March. The Morbys' have been so helpful to us. And have taught us many things that will help us. They live in Centerville, Utah and the Hawkes are from Idaho. So we are planning to all get together when we are all home. The Nicholson's that came with us live in Bountiful area. I hope that will happen as they are special friends. Sister Nicholson lives right next door and she has been trying to teach me to TAT. I don't know if she can do that. I really miss my sewing and crocheting. There are no yarn or needles here at all. Things that we thought we would be able to get here. They don't have them. She has been making beautiful snowflakes for Christmas. One of the ladies over at the MTC went home for her daughters wedding and she picked up the needles that they use to do that for us all.
